Growing Old
It seemed a lot of the poems we read this week were about growing old and how to deal and cope with dieing. I enjoyed reading these because I just tool a Psychology of Grief class and it made me understand how real the fear of dieing is to people. I liked how the one poem talked about making art so people remember the speaker at his youth instead of as a old man.

Goblin Market
I really enjoyed reading this poem. I liked how it showed the strength of women. The two sisters were able to fight off the evil Goblins and overcome their early death. I thought that the poem showed what sisters would do for each other and how far they would go to make each other happy. I only have brothers so I do not know exactly how strong the bond of sisters is. I do have six sister-in-laws (my husband has a very large family!!) and I see how strong there relationship is.

Victorian Era
The readings this week to me a long time to understand. But after reading them over and over again I was able to understand most of them and see a lot of the hidden meaning. I really enjoyed the reading of the Duke and its comparison to aristocracy, the sad truth is that it happens all the time. If you have money you can get away with things that the average joe can not get away with. i also enjoyed reading the merman king, but what I liked most about that poem was reading everyone in class posts on its comparison of religion and imagination. It seemed so many of us had different ideas. To tell the truth I had a hard time understanding it at first until I got some thoughts of others and then it made sense to me.

Frankenstein Book
I have spent a good part of my week reading the Frankenstein book for class. I find it very interesting but it was very hard to get into at first it took me a couple chapters. I go back to work this coming week from my maternity leave. I am super excited (just kidding) Luckily I will only have to go back part time and attend school part time, but of course I will always be a full time Mom!
